Blue Chip Newquay Zapcats - GP
What Are Zapcats?
Zapcats originated from surf rescue boats in South Africa during the 80's, where life guards raced inflatable Inshore Rescue Boats down treacherous rivers and along rugged coastlines. Since those early days, boat technology and design has come a long way, finally evolving into today's race-ready Zapcats.
Facts about Zapcats
- Inflatable catamarans with a top speed of 50mph on the water
- Capable of handling extremely rough seas and large surf
- Strict one-design boats across all teams mean the races are very close
- Racers often pull up to 3 'G' around tight corners, whilst remaining stable due to the catamaran design
